Bellingham Youth Jazz Summer Band 2014 - http://www.jazzproject.org/
Open to 7-12 grade musicians on saxophone, trumpet, trombone, (opt. tuba), guitar, piano, bass (acoustic or electric), drum set and vocals, who are currently enrolled in school music programs and/or taking weekly music lessons. Weekly rehearsals begin at 6pm on Wednesday June 18, 2014 and run seven weeks, with six more rehearsals and approx. 15 concerts, ending in early August. Drayton Harbor Music Camp and Festival (July) – www.draytonharbormusic.org
Six exciting days of rehearsals, combos, improvisation, composition, and other great classes for teens (grades 7-12) with an internationally recognized faculty culminating in a jazz concert featuring student big bands, combos and vocal groups PLUS multiple performances by visiting jazz artists. Open to musicians in grades 6-12 on flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and all brass instruments. Summerwinds runs August 10th-15th; Monday-Friday 10am-4pm; Final concert is Saturday the 15th at 4pm. Students will be immersed in the joys of playing chamber music to help develop musical skills, discipline, leadership, self-confidence, creativity and a sense of community. During the course of Summerwinds Music Camp students will participate in small chamber music groups, large ensembles, and individual master classes. All activities will take place in the Performing Arts Center on Western’s campus in a small group learning environment with WWU Department of Music faculty and additional professional musicians and coaching. Perfect not only because of its location in Ellensburg right in the heart of the state, but also because of its beautiful historic campus, state-of-the-art facilities, excellent residential halls and exceptional food service. The CWU music department has a proud heritage of preparing music education students to not only enter their profession but also to succeed in their profession. Because CWU is the center of music education in the State of Washington, we are motivated to offer this camp to inspire young musicians and to make a difference in their musical lives.

CWU Drum Major/Leadership Camp, Mid-July
The CWU Drum Major/Leadership Academy is designed to prepare drum majors, band officers, and section leaders for the responsibilities and challenges they will encounter as leaders in the marching band. Classes are focused on conducting, voice commands, marching band techniques, marching pedagogy, competition procedures, rehearsal techniques, and discipline. To stress musicianship, Drum Major Academy students also participate in a Symphonic Band. The directors of the Drum Major/Leadership camp have over 20 years of experience successfully preparing young student leaders for the challenges of working with their band directors and their peers. Former campers have gone on to superior performances at marching festivals and competitions all over the country including the BOA competitions.
The CWU Symphonic Band Camp, conducted by Professor Larry Gookin, is a unique and exciting opportunity for high school students. The camp has one of the best teacher/student ratios of any band camp in the Northwest, and the staff for the camp includes CWU faculty, as well as some of the most talented high school instructors and professional musicians in the state. In addition to the Symphonic Band, campers learn music theory, and participate in master classes, music sectionals, and small ensembles. This camp offers students a chance to get a head start on the upcoming year by spending a week of intense music study at the CWU Symphonic Band Camp.

Jazz Band campers will have opportunities to perform in big bands and small combos and attend classes that focus on jazz theory, improvisation, jazz history and instrumental master classes. The camp will culminate with performances at Ellensburg's highly respected Jazz in the Valley Jazz Festival.

Woodwinds, Brass and Percussion students entering grades 6-8 with a minimum of two (2) years experience. Younger musicians meet at University Place Presbyterian Church (8101 27th Street West, University Place, 98466) for daily classes and rehearsals. The program is designed for young string, woodwind, brass and percussion players. It initiates, enhances & furthers abilities & appreciation of orchestral music. Studies include music elements and history, technique building exercises, section rehearsals, lecture/recital demonstrations, performance opportunities and concerts.

Lake Samish Music and Fine Arts Camp is an incredible opportunity for your music student to participate in an inclusive, rigorous, and fun summer camp experience focused on improving camper’s skills as musicians and performers in an inspiring environment in the shadow of the Chuckanut Mountains on beautiful Lake Samish just south of Bellingham, Washington.
Campers will choose a major area in band, orchestra or choir, in which to receive specific instruction for their week of camp. They will also choose two electives to participate in outside of their major. All campers will have the opportunity to participate in the All Camp Choir.

Summer Sounds Music Camp is recommended for ages 11-20. Ensembles consist of the Junior and Youth Symphonies, chorale, jazz choir, uptown/downtown jazz, and chamber groups. Professional musicians lead a week of intensive training for youth, providing expert instruction for strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, jazz, and vocals.
The camp is held at Camp Casey on Whidbey Island, Washington. The site overlooks sandy beaches, rolling grassy fields, vintage Victorian buildings, and lovely forested areas.

Marrowstone Music Festival, founded in 1943, has grown into the leading summer music program for young musicians in the Pacific Northwest. Every summer, around 180 outstanding musicians aged 13 to 25 come from over 20 states and several countries to study with our nationally acclaimed faculty at the beautiful campus of Western Washington University in Bellingham.
